Syrah is planted around the world, for instance, it is known as \u201cShiraz\u201d in South Africa. Closer to home, the Syrah is emblematic of the Northern Rh\u00f4ne region. Recently planted in Switzerland, it can be found in the Valais and Geneva.\nThe Geneva vineyards tend to emphsise the fruity aspect of Syrah wines, so they are a bit less rounded than the Cotes du Rhone wines.
